Due to the pandemic going on, ServiceNow decided to make Knowledge 2020 a free digital event. While I prefer being able to attend in person, so far the first couple of days have gone well. Luckily, I had scheduled the week off in my work calendar, so I have been able to focus fairly well on learning, and less on work. I haven’t had any real technical challenges, which is rather surprising, but it is also somewhat expected from a company like ServiceNow.
Of course, the biggest challenge has been getting enrolled in the classes I want to take. However, they are extending the experience to a number of weeks, which I assume will allow them to repeat popular courses. They also said that we would be able to view courses online, after the fact. Hopefully, I will be able to find time, with my schedule at work.
Speaking of work, things have been busy lately, as usual. The U.S.-based portion of my team has been working remotely for a number of years, so the pandemic lockdown hasn’t really meant much of a change for most of us. Our team in India has had to adjust to working remote, but they seem to have made the change pretty smoothly.
It will be interesting to see how work changes, once the lockdowns are over and we return to “normal”. I am hopeful that more and more teams will realize the value in the WFH model. I certainly don’t intend to change how my team works. I much prefer having my people spend less time on their daily commute, and having more time for their personal lives.
